Gold Secrets
Before you begin with
mining, World of Warcraft Mining Guide sets the necessary for you:
1)
Mining Skill. You have to go to local mining instructor and practice
to get this.
This is the list of
the mining trainers and their locations:
Gelman Stonehand:
Stormwind, on the western end of Dwarven District (Alliance Trainer)
Kurdram Stonehammer: Darkshore, north Auberdine area. (Alliance
Trainer)
Matt Johnson: Duskwood, in the north section of Darkshire. (Alliance
Trainer)
Brock Stoneseeker: Loch Modan, Southwest part of Thelsamar.

Brom Killian: Undercity, South of the bridge leading to the War
Quarter. (Horde Trainer)

2) A mining Pick.
Please, keep in mind that these can also be enchanted, although it
makes no difference other than you get to see a glow when you equip
it like a normal weapon. Seems pointless to me but some people like
this as a cool feature.
3) Optional but
recommended - Gloves: You should get the cheapest gloves you can
find and get them enchanted with +5 mining skill whose price won’t
be more than 2g.
In case you want to
know, the +5 mining won't increase your probability of getting a
crystal but it will increase the odds that you WON'T have an
unsuccessful attempt.
Engineers Note: Makin
yourself a Goblin Mining helmet will add +5 to your mining skill.

WoW Mining Guide -
Copper mining
According to this
World of Warcraft Mining Guide, my suggestion for you is to mine
roughly 50 copper then smelt. Copper is so rich, so you can use any
of the subsequent mining routs or create your own:
Mining Locations:
* Alterac Mountains
* Ashenvale
* Darkshore
* Desolace
* Dun Morogh
* Durotar
* Duskwood
* Elwynn Forest
* Hillsbrad Foothills
* Loch Modan
* Mulgore
* Redridge Mountains
* Silverpine Forest
* Stonetalon Mountains
* The Barrens
* Thousand Needles, Tirisfal Glades, Westfall, and Wetlands
Horde
- Tauren: Mulgore: you
should simply pick a point from which you will begin and then go
after the cliffs all the way around. Remember to investigate the
Venture Co mine. On this run you should reach about 40-50 copper.
- Orc and Troll:
Finishing whole circuits of Durotar presents quite easy way. Anyway,
since there is too much copper it might be very fun for you to begin
at Razor Hill and go west in the direction of the Quilboar lands,
hugging the cliff face until you get to the river and then go north
until you get to Orgrimmar. Next you should go east until you see a
small farmhouse, then go south and jump down into the canyon. If you
follow the canyon out and go south east, you'll get to razor hill
once more. Until the end of this about 25-30 copper ores will be in
you possession.
- Undead: Starting at
the entry of DeathKnell, go south and follow the cliffs all the way
round, past the Undercity, up to the bulwark. Now you should head up
north to Scarlet monastery, hugging the cliffs as you move. Go west
when you get to the coast, and then go south to follow the cliffs
down to Agamand Mills. Once you’ve done that follow those hills
south once more back to the entry of Deathknell. It is about 30-40
copper ore from that should be in your possession from this run.
Alliance
- Night elves:
Darnassus has no ores at all, so you must go to Darkshore. Start at
Auberdine and the go east till you reach the cliffs at the top of
the map. Now move southwards, hug the cliff face as move. Upon
arriving at the entrance of Ashenvale, move west to the coast then
north back to Auberdine. Now go east, just like before, except this
time when you arrive at the cliffs, head northwards, following the
clifts round the coast heading south again to Auberdine. This is a
figure 8 pattern and you'll find it easir than taking Auberdine in
one whole route. you'll get about 40-50 copper ores from this.
Dwarves and Gnomes:
Copper is everywhere, so you really don't need a route here.
Human: Beginning at
Goldshire and heading east to the north of Crystal Lake, when
you arrive at the north of the logging camp, go south. Follow the
river to the border of Duskwood and Elwyn forest, then move north,
west and return to goldshire. If you visit at least 2 mines on this
trek, you'll get about 30-40 copper ores.
Ok, so now that you've
followed my 1-65 World of Warcraft Mining Guide, you'll want to move
on to 66 and above mining, that is all covered in the Ultimate World
of Warcraft Guide below:
